Confidence Rising That Newcastle Can Sign Townsend

Friday, January 20th, 2017 · 22 Comments

The Chronicle (Mark Douglas) are reporting tonight that the confidence is rising within the club that Newcastle can do a deal for Crystal palace winger Andros Townsend this month.

Crystal Palace prefer a straight permanent transfer in the January transfer window and Newcastle want a loan deal with an option to buy in the summer, but maybe something can still be worked out.

There are reports that Andros is keen to return to Newcastle and play again for Raga Benitez and that would hardly be a big surprise – and it will be helpful in trying to forge a deal in January.

Brighton Go Top Of Championship With Amazing Win

Friday, January 20th, 2017 · 14 Comments

Brighton went back to the top of the Championship tonight with a 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday at home after an amazing game.

The score was 1-1 at half time with a goal from Knockaert after 34 minutes and then an own goal from Lewis Dunk just before half time.

And then after 64 minutes Glenn Murray was sent off after he intentionally stopped Loovens’ shot going into the net with his hand.

He was given a red card and Sheffield Wednesday were awarded a penalty, but then goalkeeper Stockdale saved the penalty kick and the follow up – a stunning double save by the Brighton goalkeeper.

This Transfer Target Flattered By Newcastle’s Interest

Friday, January 20th, 2017 · 14 Comments

Tom Ince says it’s nice when other clubs show an interest in you in the January transfer window,  with Newcastle being heavily linked with the Derby County star but manager Steve McClaren adamant he is going nowhere this month.

If Newcastle do get promoted this season it could be that Rafa could go after Ince in the summer, although we will have a lot more targets if we do get back to the Premier League in May.

Rafa Talks About Elliot, Krul, Mitrovic And Rotherham

Friday, January 20th, 2017 · 9 Comments

Rafa Benitez has just completed his press conference for the important game at home to Rotherham United tomorrow afternoon.

We now have two wins in a row after beating Brentford and Birmingham in the last week, so we are hoping we can make it three wins in a row tomorrow – although nothing is ever certain in the Championship.

It’s the games we should be winning – like the game tomorrow – that can trip us up – so the lads have to be at their best tomorrow.

Newcastle Player On The Man Who Can Get Us Promoted

Friday, January 20th, 2017 · 11 Comments

Jonjo Shelvey showed his worth to Newcastle when he returned to the side on Wednesday night and after missing the last five games he put in a majestic performance in the center of the park against Birmingham and at the end of the night Newcastle were worthy winners by a score of 3-1.

And it now looks like DeAndre Yedlin could be seeing more playing time at right back with Vurnon Anita out with an ankle injury for about six weeks, but that’s a lot less than the two to three months first reported.
