Newcastle Star Not Sure Where It All Went Wrong

Monday, May 30th, 2016 · 83 Comments

Georginio Wijnaldum hasn’t thought too much about leaving Newcastle – yet – because he says he’s still too devastated and distraught about Newcastle being relegated.

And whereas Rafa Benitez has made it clear he would like to see Moussa Sissoko stay at Newcastle for next season, the manager has not said the same thing about the Dutch international.

Rafa could still want Gini to stay at the club for next season of course, but we think the Dutch International will want to move to pastures anew – but we could be wrong about that.

Steve Bruce Bemoans The Glass Ceiling

Monday, May 30th, 2016 · 48 Comments

Geordie Steve Bruce has been interviewed in the Guardian today after successfully getting Hull City back to the Premier League at the first attempt, after they were relegated last season.

But they had to do it via the playoffs beating Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 in the final at Wembley.

Hull were the better side in that game, which came just before the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid – a repeat of the 2014 final.

Real won again on penalties after  a 1-1 draw after extra time and yes – you could see the difference in the quality of the play and the players in those two games on Saturday.

Huge Competition For This Position Next Season

Monday, May 30th, 2016 · 66 Comments

When Tim Krul was injured last October, he wouldn’t have realized at the time just how well his two deputies – Rob Elliot and Karl Darlow – would perform in goal for Newcastle for the rest of the season.

Rob came in with Karl also out injured at the time – and he was brilliant and the Player of the Season for Newcastle.

Karl then came in early April for the last eight games, after Rob himself was injured – and the 25 year-old played very well indeed and showed what a good goalkeeper he is.

His overall display against Crystal Palace when he saved that penalty from Yohan Cabaye was simply awesome.
